Here is how to get started with your Eva Scene Selector

1 Introduction

The Eva Scene Selector makes it easy to dim lights and set the perfect mood or scenario in your smart home. Dim lights and control different scenes, like «wake up», «go to bed», «movie night» or whatever setting you’d like. A magnet connection lets you detach the control unit to be used anywhere.

1.1 Important safety information

  • For indoor use in dry environments only.
  • Can be used in temperatures ranging from 0 ºC to 40 ºC.
  • This product is not a toy, keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not place near any heating source or in direct sunlight, as this may cause overheating.
  • Only use correct type of battery. Risk of fire or explosion, if the battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
  • Do not use the equipment in case of any visible damage.
  • Dispose of used batteries according to instructions.
For equipment including button and coin cells:
  • Do not ingest battery, Chemical Burn Hazard.
  • If the coin or button cell battery is swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just 2 hours and can lead to death.
  • Keep new and used batteries away from children.
  • If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children.
  • If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.
Failure to observe recommendations included in this manual may be dangerous or cause a violation of the law. The manufacturer will not be held responsible for any loss or damage.

2 Installation
2.1 Getting started
  1. Open the battery compartment of the Scene Selector by removing the child safety screw and sliding the cover downwards.
  2. Insert the 2 CR2450 batteries which follow the product as shown in the illustration. Note: The LED will blink alternating blue and red indicating start up and afterwards show a pattern of 3 short blue blinks every second indicating pairing mode
  3. Close the cover of the Scene Selector by sliding the cover back in place and tighten the child safety screw.
2.2 Pairing the Scene Selector to a hub/gateway
  1. Follow the instructions in your smart home app to add/pair units.
  2. If the Scene Selector is not in pairing mode (see 2.1.2):
    • Press and hold the buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4 at the same time for more than 5 seconds to initialize pairing mode
    • Pairing mode is indicated by the LED with 3 short blue blinks every second.
  3. Set your hub/gateway in pairing mode and wait for the pairing to complete. As an alternative, your app may allow scanning the QR-code on the Scene Selector.
2.3 Un-Pairing the Scene Selector from a hub/gateway

Follow the instructions in the app to remove/unpair units from your hub/gateway.

2.4 Configuring the buttons

The functionality described in this section is supported by Eva Smart Home app, but may differ if using the Scene Selector together with another app.

Scenes buttons (1 – 4) :

Use the device settings for the Scene Selector in your smart home app to assign scenes consisting of single or multiple devices (group functionality) to the buttons 1 - 4 of the Scene Selector. As an alternative, you can create a group consisting of the devices you want to control, create a scene with these devices and store the scene by pressing the corresponding button on the Scene Selector, see chapter 2.7, “Using the buttons”. Customize your buttons by marking the buttons with the self-adhesive stickers included in the packaging.

Dimming buttons (5 – 6) :

Use the device settings for the Scene Selector in your smart home app to assign one or multiple dimmable devices (group functionality) to the buttons 5 and 6, see also chapter “Using the buttons”. Customize your buttons by marking the buttons with the self-adhesive icon stickers included in the packaging.

2.5 Zigbee Touch Linking / Light Linking

You can directly connect the Scene Selector with other devices supporting Zigbee Touch Link to control them (e.g. light bulbs or smart plugs). This works both for the buttons controlling scenes and the dimming buttons. Please consult the manual of the device(s) you want to link with, if feature is supported.

To link a device supporting Zigbee Touch Link with the Scene Selector:

  1. Optional: Pair all the devices to be linked with your gateway (you can also use the Scene Selector standalone without a gateway)
  2. Hold the Scene Selector close to the other device (less than 10cm distance) and press and hold buttons 1 and 2 of the Scene Selector for scene control or the buttons 5 and 6 for dimmable devices. Typically, the linked device will give an indication of successful linking.

2.8 Placing and mounting the Scene Selector 2.8.1 Wall mounting

For wall mounting you may choose either the double-sided tape on the back of the holder plate or using screws.

To mount using screws, detach the Scene Selector from its holder. Remove the snap on bottom plate from the holder and use it as a template for marking the screw holes on the wall. Alternatively, the backplate also fits with screws to a standard wall junction box. Use proper fixation method depending on the wall material. Screw the bottom plate to the wall and snap on the upper part of the holder. You can now insert the Scene Selector into its holder.

2.8.2 Additional mounting options

You can detach the Scene Selector from its base plate and place it on any even surface for easy access. The magnetic contacts within the Scene Selector makes it possible to attach the Scene Selector to any magnetic surface e.g. to a refrigerator.

2.9 Changing the battery
  1. Open the battery compartment of the Scene Selector by removing the child safety screw and sliding the cover downwards
  2. Remove and discard used batteries
  3. Insert fresh batteries; always replace all batteries with new ones
  4. Close the cover of the Scene Selector by sliding the cover back in place and tighten the child safety screw
  5. Note: The LED will blink alternating blue and red indicating start up. The red LED may blink for a short while until the Scene Selector has reconnected to its gateway.
3 Appendix
3.1 Information on disposal of electrical & electronic equipment

This symbol on the product and accompanying documents means that used electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) should not be mixed with general household waste. For proper treatment, recovery and recycling, please take this product to designated collection points where it will be accepted free of charge. Alternatively, in some countries, you may be able to return your products to your local retailer upon purchase of an equivalent new product.

Disposing of this product correctly will help save valuable resources and prevent any potential negative effects on human health and the environment, which could otherwise arise from inappropriate waste handling. Please contact your local authority for further details of your nearest designated collection point. Penalties may be applicable for incorrect disposal of this waste, in accordance with your national legislation.

3.2 Software updates

Software updates may be released by the manufacturer to fix bugs or enhance functionality after the product has been released. Updated software versions released will not impact continued compliance with applicable rules.
